Plant Type

Grass

Fast-growing, clumping, evergreen to semi-evergreen ornamental grass to 18-28” tall and wide. This attractive dwarf variety forms a clumping mound of narrow, gracefully-arching, red-tinged foliage accented with reddish-tan-colored flower plumes that rise well above the attractive foliage in summer. Ideal for applications where a full-sized fountain grass might be overpowering, this low-growing variety is well-suited as an accent or texture contrast to broadleaf shrubs and perennials, and is a great choice for water settings, rock gardens, mixed borders or containers. Also great for planting in mass for medians or drifts. Prune to 3-4” in early-spring to encourage a strong flush of fresh new spring foliage. Prefers a well-drained soil, and while this variety can survive with light watering once established, a more robust-looking plant is achieved with moderate regular watering.  Thrives in a full sun exposure. Deer resistant.
