Plant Type

Perennial, Ornamental Grass

Moderate-growing, clumping, perennial ornamental grass to 12-18” tall and wide. One of the smallest-growing fountain grasses, this attractive dwarf variety forms a clumping mound of narrow, upright-growing, rich-green foliage accented with bunny-tail-like, cream-colored flower plumes that rise above the attractive foliage late-summer through fall. Adding further appeal are the warm, golden toned foliage colors that appear in the cool of fall. Ideal for applications where a full-sized fountain grass might be overpowering, this dwarf variety is well-suited as an accent or texture contrast to broadleaf shrubs and perennials, and is a great choice for water settings, rock gardens, mixed borders or containers. Can self-sow which should be considered when selecting a planting location. Prune to 3-4” in early-spring to encourage a strong flush of fresh new spring foliage. Prefers a well-drained soil, and while this variety can survive drought conditions once established, a more robust-looking plant is achieved with moderate regular watering.  Thrives in a full sun exposure. Deer resistant.
