Fast-growing coniferous evergreen tree with a pyramidal growth-habit, typically reaching 30-55’ tall x 25-35’ wide. This popular and versatile species features 3-5” long medium to dark-green needles in groups of two, accented with clustered groups of attractive reddish-brown pine cones. Adding further appeal to this durable species is its thick, deeply-fissured gray and reddish-brown bark. Revered for its ability to withstand heat, cold, wind and a variety of soil types, this species thrives in areas ranging from mild coastal climates, to warm desert environments, and requires little water once established. Well-suited for parks, large gardens or open areas, and is a popular selection for use as a large, low-maintenance windbreak. Prefers well-drained soil in a full sun exposure.
