Moderate to fast-growing coniferous evergreen tree with an irregular, open growth-habit to 30-60’ tall x 20-30’ wide. This highly-adaptable species features 2-4” long light green needles in groups of two, and is accented with clustered groups of attractive, slightly-curved reddish-brown pine cones. Adding further appeal to this durable species is its rough-textured scaly reddish-brown bark. Revered for its ability to withstand heat, wind and poor soils, this species thrives in areas ranging from mild coastal climates to warm desert environments, and requires little water once established. Well-suited for parks, large gardens or open areas, and is a popular selection for use as a large, low-maintenance windbreak. Prefers well-drained soil in a full sun exposure.
