Moderate-growing deciduous tree with a rounded growth-habit to 30-35’ tall x 25-35’ wide, or greater with age. This reliable and versatile species forms an umbrella-like crown of large, pinnately-divided medium-green leaves that turn vivid shades of yellow, orange and crimson in fall. This coloration is dependable even in mild climates, and is one of the only species to exhibit red-toned fall color in warm desert regions. Inconspicuous green to red flowers appear in spring, followed by clusters of small reddish-colored fruit that mature to a deep-blackish-blue in summer. This grateful species tolerates a variety of soil conditions, growing in moist or dry soil, is resistant to oak root fungus and has few know pests. Thrives in inland to desert climates, and is well-suited as a shade, street, patio or lawn tree. Prefers well-drained soil in a full sun exposure.
