Fast-growing evergreen shrub or small tree with an upright growth-habit to 15-25’ tall x 10-15’ wide. Can easily be maintained to a smaller size. This handsome variety is revered for its wavy-edged glossy medium-green leaves that contrast wonderfully with its sleek black branches. Lightly-fragrant inconspicuous dark-purple flowers appear in spring followed by small orange fruit. Takes well to shearing and is well-suited as a large hedge screen or medium sized courtyard tree. Tolerates coastal conditions. Moderate to low water requirements once established. Prefers full coastal sun to partial sun elsewhere.
