Categories: ,

Moderately slow-growing evergreen tree with an upright growth-habit to 25-35’ tall x 15-20’ wide. Considered one of the most beautiful of its genus, this distinctive species features long, glossy, heavily-drooping leaves that emerge bright-green, maturing to an attractive rich-deep-green. Retaining foliage to its base for many years, this handsome species can be pruned into a large hedge, screen, or lush-looking background, and older specimens developed as trees display an attractive light-brown and gray peeling bark.  Prefers a neutral to slightly-acidic loamy soil, as clay soils will tend to produce a weaker, less aesthetically-pleasing specimen. Thrives in a sun to partial shade exposure.

USDA Zone: 9A-11
