Plant Type

Shrub

Slow-growing deciduous shrub or small, shrubby tree to 8-12’ tall and wide, or slightly greater with age. Can be grown as a single or multi-stemmed specimen. This floriferous species eventually develops a broad, rounded appearance featuring lobed, dark-green leaves with light-green colored undersides. Prior to the emergence of its foliage in spring, appears a dazzling, early-spring display of abundant, clustered single pink flowers. Flowers can continue into spring and are sometimes simultaneous with the emergence of leaf buds. Well-suited as a single accent, or planted in mass to create an eye-popping display of spring color. Requires regular watering in a well-drained soil and performs best in a full sun exposure.
