Shrub

Moderate-growing, deciduous, multi-branched shrub to 6-10” tall x 6-8’ wide. Can also be pruned into a small, single-trunk tree. This popular hybrid features attractive coppery-reddish-purple new foliage that emerges in spring to eventually mature to a deep-purple in the warmth of summer. This attractive coloration remains throughout its growing season. A profusion of fragrant light-pink flowers appear in mid-spring providing an eye-catching contrast to its deeply-colored foliage. Flowers are sometimes followed by small black-colored fruit that provide food for various species of birds. Well-suited as an accent or foundation planting, and is especially striking when used as a color contrast to brightly-colored shrubs or perennials. Prefers regular watering in a well-drained soil, and thrives in a full sun exposure.
