Fast-growing deciduous tree to 40-50’ tall and wide. This long-time landscape favorite features long, heavily-weeping branches cloaked in narrow, medium-green leaves with grayish-colored undersides, creating a refined and regal appearance. These long, flowing branches gracefully wave in the summer breeze and turn attractive shades of yellow and gold in the cool of fall. Adding further appeal to this species is its attractive furrowed brown bark that becomes rough and more deeply-fissured with age. Clusters of elongated yellow flowers appear in spring, but are considered inconspicuous. Well-suited for park settings or large lawn areas, and it should be noted that this species requires ample watering and has roots that can be invasive, which should be considered with choosing a planting location. Thrives in deep, evenly moist soil and prefers a full sun exposure.
