Moderate-growing evergreen perennial to 2-3’ tall x 3-4’ wide. This floriferous species forms a loose mound of glossy, lush-looking, medium-green foliage accented with abundant spikes of bright fuchsia- colored flowers that rise above the attractive foliage summer through late-fall, with sporadic bloom throughout the year in mild climates. A favorite for hummingbirds and butterflies. Well-suited as a colorful accent or flower border, and makes a fine container specimen as well. Requires regular watering in a rich, well-drained soil and thrives in a full coastal sun exposure, or a partial sun to light shade exposure elsewhere. A hard pruning in late-winter or early-spring will help promote a vigorous, more compact-growing specimen.
