Fast-growing evergreen perennial with a shrubby, upright, rounded growth habit to 3-4’ tall x 4-5’ wide. This highly-popular, long-lived perennial features attractive, narrow gray-green foliage accented with a profusion of showy, velvety-textured purple and white flower spikes that rise above the attractive foliage spring through fall, or nearly year round in mild climates. These eye-catching flowers are a favorite for butterflies and hummingbirds, and are great for fresh or dried flower arrangements. Prune in late-winter to promote a more compact growth habit. Well-suited in beds, borders, rock gardens, wildflower gardens or as an attractive container specimen. Tolerates coastal conditions and a variety of different soil types provided they’re well-drained. This grateful species requires little water once established, and prefers a full sun to partial shade exposure.
