Fast-growing evergreen perennial with a shrubby, upright growth habit to 4’ tall and wide. This popular, long-blooming variety forms a soft rounded-mound of narrow, grayish-green leaves with whitish-colored undersides, and is accented with abundant spikes of velvety deep-purple flowers that rise above the foliage spring through fall, or nearly year-round in mild climates. These eye-catching flowers are a favorite for butterflies and hummingbirds, and are great for fresh or dried flower arrangements. Prune in late-winter to promote a more compact growth habit. Well-suited in beds, borders, rock gardens, wildflower gardens, or as an attractive container specimen. Tolerates coastal conditions and a variety of different soil types provided they’re well-drained. This grateful species requires little water once established, and prefers a full sun to partial shade exposure.
