Moderate to fast-growing shrubby perennial with a variable growth-habit to 3-6’ tall x 3-6’ wide or wider. This tough sun-loving California native features aromatic foliage with fine white hairs covering the leaf surface. Foliage emerges a medium-green but as the leaf felting becomes heavier with warmer temperatures the leaves turn to a soft silvery gray. Contrasting nicely with the attractive foliage are the whorls of light-pinkish-purple flowers that rise above the foliage late-spring into summer. Attracts hummingbirds butterflies and bees and the small seeds that appear after flowering are a favorite for songbirds. Well-suited in beds and borders in rock gardens or as an individual accent or mass planting. Also makes a good container specimen. Requires a well-drained soil and little water once established though a more robust looking specimen is achieved with supplemental watering. Full to partial sun.
