Category:

Moderate-growing deciduous shrub with an upright rounded growth-habit to 6-8’ tall x 5-7’ wide. This sturdy low-maintenance species features narrow broom-like nearly leafless green stems topped with a profusion of fragrant pea-like bright-yellow flowers that create an eye-catching display late-spring into summer. Flowers are followed by narrow 2-4” seed pods that mature to a medium-brown. Well-suited in woodland gardens for planting in groups or drifts or as a dry bank or hillside planting. Tolerates a variety of soil types and growing conditions from hot inland locations to milder coastal exposures. Requires little water once established and prefers a full to partial sun exposure. Blooming is most pronounced in full sun.
