Moderate-growing tropical evergreen to semi-evergreen shrub to 8-15’ tall x 4-6’ wide. This versatile long-blooming species can easily be pruned to maintain a smaller size or trained into a small tree. Soft velvety emerald-green foliage is accented with large eye-catching vivid purple flowers that appear spring to fall. Adding further appeal is the lovely purplish-red foliage color displayed in the fall. Well suited as an accent large hedge screen or small tree with age. Also makes a great patio container specimen. Prefers regular watering in a well-drained soil and a partial to full sun exposure.
