Plant Type

Tree

Moderate to fast-growing evergreen tree to 30-45’ tall x 25’ wide, or greater with age. This stately Eucalyptus-like species forms a dense, symmetrical, rounded-head of glossy deep-green foliage, accented with clusters of frilly white flowers that appear in spring. Flowers are followed by small, woody seed capsules that develop in summer. Adding further appeal is the attractive, smooth, cinnamon-brown bark that peels away to reveal a light-gray bark underneath. This durable and versatile species tolerates heat, drought, smog and a variety of soil types (provided they’re well-drained), and is well-suited as a park, lawn, street or shade tree. Requires little water once established and thrives in a full sun exposure.
