Slow-growing evergreen tree to 30-40’ tall x 25-30’ wide with age. Can be grown as a single or multi-trunk specimen. This stately-looking Australian native forms a rounded-crown of glossy, lance-shaped, medium-green leaves that develop an attractive red-tinge in the cool of fall. Clusters of small, fragrant, bee-attracting yellow flowers appear late-spring to early-summer, and are followed by woody, reddish-brown seed capsules that mature summer to fall. Adding further appeal to this handsome species is its attractive, exfoliating reddish-brown bark that peels away to expose a smooth, light-grey-brown bark underneath. Well-suited as a lawn, street or planter specimen, and when grown in a multi-trunk form, makes a good screening. While this species can survive on moderately low amounts of water once established, a more robust-looking specimen is achieved with regular watering. Tolerates coastal conditions, and thrives in a full to partial sun exposure.
