Large evergreen shrub growing to 8-10′ tall and wide. Handsome glossy dark-green foliage is accented with clusters of fragrant white flowers that appear in spring followed by small red berries that quickly mature to black. Great as a foundation planting and is well suited as a large screen or hedge. Highly versatile this species tolerates heat and a wide variety of soil types as well as wet or dry soil conditions. Reasonably drought tolerant once established and prefers a full sun to partial shade exposure.
