Category:

Fast-growing evergreen perennial commonly used as a groundcover. Grows to 10-18″” tall with a strongly-spreading growth habit. Rooting itself wherever stems contact moist soil this species is prized for its ability to create a lush-looking groundcover in a very short amount of time as well as its low maintenance free-blooming characteristics. Attractive glossy dark-green foliage is highlighted with a profusion of vivid star-shaped purple-blue flowers that appear spring into summer. Great choice for controlling erosion on hills and slopes and is especially well suited as an underplanting around trees. Can become invasive if not controlled in open areas so consider this when choosing a planting location. Tolerates a wide variety of soils and prefers a shade to partial sun exposure. A full sun exposure could only be considered in cool climates.
