Moderate-growing deciduous shrub to 5-6’ tall and wide, or slightly larger with age. Often prior to the emergence of its attractive purple-tinged foliage, appear abundant clusters of dark-red flower buds that open to eye-catching, bell-shaped, pinkish-red flowers appearing late-spring into early summer attracting hummingbirds and butterflies. Cold hardy, tough and easy to grow, this variety is well-suited as an accent in mixed borders or as a large informal hedge. Also looks great as a mass planting. Requires a well-drained soil, light to moderate watering, and a partial to full sun exposure. Prune after blooming to help maintain a more compact growing specimen.
