Yellow Oleander Thevetia peruviana
Moderate-growing, large evergreen shrub or small tree with an upright growth habit to 12-20’ tall x 10-15’ wide. This heat-tolerant species features long, narrow, glossy bright-green foliage accented with lightly-fragrant, trumpet-shaped, bright-yellow flowers that appear on the branch tips in summer, with intermittent bloom throughout the year. Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Flowering is followed by green seed pods that mature to black, which can be suppressed by removing older flowers as they expire. Prune in late-summer to fall to control size and promote a more dense-growing specimen. Well-suited as an accent, large hedge or screen, or as a small specimen tree for courtyard and patio areas. It should be noted that all parts of this plant are poisonous which should be considered when choosing a planting location. Thrives with regular watering in a well-drained soil, and prefers a full to partial sun exposure.
