Moderately fast-growing, clumping evergreen succulent to 3-4’ tall and wide. This cold hardy, Southeastern U.S. native is a trunkless species forming a dense rosette of narrow, spine-tipped, bluish-green leaves margined with filament-like hair that curls away from the leaf surface. Leaves emerge upright from the center of the rosette, with outer leaves gracefully arching downward. Adding further appeal to this tough species are the 5-7’ tall spikes of showy, fragrant, white flowers that appear in summer. Great as an accent or focal point in arid landscapes, and can be grown as a large container specimen as well. Requires well-drained soil and little water once established, and thrives in a full sun exposure. Deer resistant.
