Prominent Horticulture Industry Partners Will Help Sponsor Two-Week Event

September 12, 2019 07:05 AM Eastern Daylight Time

HOUSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–TreeTown USA will host an inaugural event at their Winters, California nursery, September 16-27, 2019, marking the first time that the nursery in Winters will be home to their annual Horticultural Encounter® and Open House. The event will feature an educational element, designed to provide garden center retailers and landscape professionals with a deeper understanding of how and where their plants are grown and the techniques used to make them thrive.

As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to keep customers informed of new plant introductions and to serve as a resource for the landscape and garden center retail trades, TreeTown USA will launch a new focus for the Horticultural Encounter: “Designs Inspired by Nature.” The goal is to introduce guests to plants and applications that go beyond beautifying the environment by serving greater purposes: from earth-cooling groundcovers and pollinator habitats to hydrozones and plants native to the region.

Horticultural Encounter attendees will tour through several garden displays showcasing plants best suited for today’s landscape situations:

  • Healthy Hydrozones: Plants grouped by landscape irrigation requirement
  • Proven Pollinators: Plants that attract birds, bees, butterflies, and other pollinator partners
  • Wild & Wonderful: Plants native to California
  • Cool Cover: Groundcover plants
  • Northern Exposure: Oregon-grown plants for the Pacific Northwest and beyond
  • Canopy Cove: New and “tried and true” trees for commercial and residential purposes
  • Grassy Grove: Today’s best grasses and grass-like plants

Guests will also enjoy a private tour of the 1,200-acre nursery, which serves as the flagship site for cutting-edge automation practices, and is home to a 2.2-acre Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) certified citrus greenhouse. The two-week event will culminate in a two-day Open House event for independent garden centers (IGCs) on Thursday, September 26 and landscape professionals on Friday, September 27. The Open House includes tours of the garden displays and Winters nursery, catered BBQ lunch from local eatery Buckhorn Grill, and a special documentary screening of Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf on September 27.
