Category:

Fast-growing deciduous vine with woody stems to 20-30’ long with support. Size can be controlled with an annual late-winter pruning. This vigorous species features lush-looking, compound medium-green leaves accented with abundant clusters of eye-catching, trumpet-shaped yellow flowers that appear in summer, attracting hummingbirds and bees. Flowers are followed by bright-green, bean-like seed pods. The woody stems of this species possess small aerial rootlets that will attach themselves to a variety of surfaces, eventually pulling away with the weight of its vigorous growth. Support should be provided for optimal results. Well-suited for fences, trellises or arbors, or left to ramble on slopes or in large open areas. This low-maintenance species tolerates heat and a variety of soil conditions, though best results are achieved with rich, well-drained soil in a full to partial sun exposure.
