Elymus condensatus ‘Canyon Prince’ is considered a large clumping grass with slender powdery gray-blue evergreen leaves. The new foliage emerges green. ‘Canyon Prince’ grows 2-3 feet tall in dry locations and larger up to 5 feet tall if given regular watering. Flower stalks rise 1-2 feet above the foliage in late summer topped with clusters of spike-like wheat colored flowers. It is usually planted in full sun to light shade but the color is best if planted in full sun. It is considered to be drought tolerant but likes occasional irrigation. In hotter inland and desert gardens ‘Canyon Prince’ requires more irrigation. It spreads and with time can grow over large areas if not contained.
