Euonymus japonicus ‘Aureo-Marginatus’ is a family of broadleaf evergreen shrubs that are extremely versatile. Euonymus japonicus ‘Aureo-Marginatus’ is occasionally called Golden Japanese Euonymus but this common name is rarely used. It is tolerant of poor soils and grows in most all light conditions. They make good choices for urban landscapes and coastal gardens. Euonymus japonica grows in solid green and variegated versions and can be low-growing (from 1 – 3 ft.) or can reach ten 10 ft. in height. They make good large hedges because they can withstand heavy pruning. They are often used as an alternative shrub to buxus japonica for formal gardens and topiaries. Euonymus japonicus ‘Aureo-Marginatus’ has yellow-edged leaves.
